Defend Your Skin - From Pollution

The effects of pollution on our world are becoming more noticeable every day. From global warming to water toxicity, it is hard to ignore that there is a real problem. Now though, the consequences of pollution are getting up close and personal.

Toxins are damaging your skin. You need to learn about skin care to battle these new issues. According to the World Health Organization pollutants are triggering:

  • increased risk of skin cancer
  • skin sensitivity
  • premature skin aging
  • discoloration
  • dryness
  • dullness
  • roughness

Coming Under Attack

If you live in an urban area, you are under constant barrage by a fine layer of dust and dirt that is released from car exhaust, construction, trucks and more. The particles of dirt will create an invisible layer of grime over your face by the end of the day.

That alone is enough to cause most of us to squirm in disgust. However, there is a deeper problem. Chemicals are released into the air every day in the United States by the ton.

In an urban area, these chemicals mix in with the dust and dirt and then end up as part of the layer coating your face. The size of these substances is significantly smaller than the pores of your skin. The chemicals can easily slip through into the layers of your dermis.

Effects on Your Skin

Once there, these chemicals can cause a reaction. That reaction could be irritation, scaling, infection, or a long-term piece of the problem – the creation of free radicals.

Free radicals are already a part of the coating on your face. A free radical is a wild oxygen molecule roaming around looking for an electron. The sun creates free radicals, especially through the damaged ozone layer.

The problem with free radicals is they will poke holes into your collagen, lipids, elastin and more to pick up that extra electron.

So, when your face is losing elasticity and suppleness, it is not "just happening" from the aging process. There are nasty things like free radicals helping it along by stealing collagen and other essential nutrients from you.

Antioxidants to the Rescue

So, what to do? You need skin protection. There must be a way to fight back against free radicals and the other pollutants attacking your body.

Here is where antioxidants emerge. You may have wondered what is so great about antioxidants. Simple: they fight free radicals.

Antioxidants can provide those hungry little free radicals with the extra electron that they need. You are placing a barrier – or maybe a meal – between you and the enemy.

Antioxidants are available in many foods. Certainly, that is a primary focus of the ads that are on TV.

However, antioxidants are also available as part of your beauty regimen. Many products contain antioxidants such as Vitamin E or C.

Your Battle Plan:

Lala Daisy has you covered with a variety of antioxidant-rich moisturizers and serums to protect, cleanse and enrich your skin so that you can fight pollutants.

  1. Protect First:

The first thing that you want to do is protect your skin. Before you leave for the day, cover your skin with an antioxidant-rich moisturizer and sunscreen.

Create a barrier between it and the layer of dirt that wants to form over your skin. You are also providing a layer of antioxidants to protect your skin from free radicals.

  1.     Purify:

At the end of the day, remove the grime as soon as possible. A soft brush is also useful in applying the cleanser. That will remove particles from beneath the skin layer that your fingers cannot reach.

  1.     Restore:

Finally, before sleep, protect your skin and repair the damage from the day with a daily repair serum and moisturizer. Your skin needs to replace the moisture and collagen that has been lost due to its battle with the elements each day. Using antioxidant-rich products will counteract the damage the free radicals have caused throughout the day. We recommend:

Ladies, your skin is facing a difficult world today. The harshness of the sun has been increased by the damage to the ozone layer. The pollution in the air can affect your skin every day.

But you are beauty warriors. You have always known that you need to protect your skin. Now, you know a little bit more about what you're protecting it against and how to best defend it. Fight on beauty warriors, fight on! Check out LaLa Daisy today!
